The New Manifesto of Futurist Food

Howdy!

Note: Some words (mostly mine) have been improved for a bigger impact!
Please double-check your notes for correlations! :)
I will print copies of the Manifesto for use...

The New Manifesto of Futurist Food

Our humanity is fatigued, sluggish, obese and pathetic because of obsolete provender. We, Marinetti’s Antipasti, will pave the way for a new generation of Futurist cooks, by becoming commodious, accelerated, and robust:
SUPERHUMANS Through Futurist Food!

Our food will cater for all the senses:
Sight: Our food will look magnificent, forged into colorful, bold, and wholesome sculptures!
Taste: We will create previously inconceivable flavour combinations!
Smell: Our meals will be served with mighty perfumes!
Hearing: We will gorge our ears upon flavour-enhancing sounds and music whenever we feast!
Touch: We will combine many textures in our cuisine, both comestible and unpalatable!

We will throw off the shackles of convention! (pause) We will scorn Pasta, Bread and Potatoes. Our cuisine will contain Amphetamines and Caffeine so that we will always be responsive and functioning towards our true potential as SUPERHUMANS!

You weak, organic imbeciles will marvel at our power - you will finally see the true strength of Futurism! Not being weighed down by ponderous, mundane food! - There will no longer be this cataclysmic bygone that you live in; you will see the might, the tenacity, the vitality that we embody! - You can live like us!

This is where you are; this is what you are like.
Discover your self-realization, feel your shameful endeavors,
See now, your lethargic negligence.

New structure

Ok, I can't read my weird short hand writing atm as my eyes are all puffy and blurry, my faultt for not listening to the doctors and going running today... woops
Anyways i am going to try and write down what i can see/remember of the strcture...

  • Starting with Marinetti's Antipasti manifesto music with the edible art playing
  • I then think we are giving out food but i can't hink we changed it... again cannot read...
  • Then the fast food section of us and the recording
  • Then the sound potryy
  • Then us eating while the "food prep" video is playing- eating really disgustingly people!!!
  • Then Tim stands up carries on eating while we go through the body. with Vid playing of the throat thing... then us laying on floor... for ...
  • the sick picture
  • We then act all eww yuck gross, start having ago at the audience saying fatty slow people ect etc etc etc
  • carring on doing that till we slow rrrrriiiiggghhhhttttttt ddddddddddddooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I think taht was most of it.... i think it would last around 7-10 minutes judging from what we have done so far...

I think our next job is to start with the transitions...

The New Manifesto of Futurist Food

Hey guys,

Here is what I have written so far for the New Manifesto of Futurist Food! Any contributions would be much appreciated. ASAP please!

Humanity is weak, slow and pathetic because of food. We, Marinetti’s Antipasti, will pave the way for a new generation of Futurist cooks by becoming better, faster, and stronger: SUPERHUMANS through Futurist food!

Our food will cater for all the senses:
• Taste: we will create previously unheard-of flavour combinations!
• Smell: our meals will be served with perfumes!
• Hearing: we will listen to flavour-enhancing sounds and music whenever we eat!
• Sight: our food will look magnificent, made into colourful and bold edible sculptures!
• Touch: we will combine many textures in our cuisine, both edible and not!

We will throw off the shackles of tradition! We will scorn pasta, bread and potatoes. Our food will contain amphetamines and caffeine so that we will always be responsive and working to our true potential as SUPERHUMANS!

update

Hey guys!
After seeing everyone else's progress i feel really positive and motivated to get ours moving even further forward.
I think we have started great, but this week we really need to push ourselves even more than ever!!
I think it is good if we each have our own responsiblites for example:

Tim the inside the body video...
Luxy the sound poetry..
Sam cook book/icing sculpture... etc etc etc etc (can't think of stuff now! lol)

that way we'll get even more done and know everyone has contributed something to the performance...

Also had a thought this weekend about the sculptured meats... i thought we could give it a modern day twist by using the reformed ham, you know the stuff that comes in shapes of teddy's and dinosaurs etc etc etc.. what do ya guys think... we could lay it out on our "display table"

I was also wondering weather we should do another sound poetry to play while they are eating like food noises, as we'll have the recorded one playing while WE are eating, i thought we could perform something ourselves LIVE again, that way we have two sound poetry's and two lots of recorded sound to go with the three vids and the live performances...

AGAIN ALSO... costume side of things, i think we should keep it very simple, and CHEAP maybe our interpretation of a futurist cook of today...

What happened after tim left us!

We made the a rough copy of the first instalment of 'sound poetry'/ 'music'.
Ask will for a copy..... i think?
We also made a recording for our music of us eating and drinking, we discussed this being used twice, once by it self and with used as a basis for one of our peices of music.
We also went through in more detail about the structure of our piece.
  • The Phone ordering,- good evening sam oriental rice hut, kym's hotdog diner etc etc
  • food being 'prepared' on projection screen-while we are eating it, (kym eating hotdogs, luxy-pizza, will-curry, me- chinese, tim- chicken, elena- kebabs/chips)
  • then us moving through the audience - our body- so to speak while images of the camera in the body thing (dunno the proper word for it) are projected on to the wall, a stop us rushing back to the 'stage' and pretending to be sick.
  • images of sick and lots of fat people, mobility scooters, fat in tubes, fat around hearts, fat people eating gross food.
  • the triangle- sound poetry incorporating Luxy's brill ideas, wine glass tapping etc, with the stamping on pasta, (yuk etc) and then moving into giving out junk food, (maybe incorporate the giving of the food into the poem)
  • us having ago at the audience ("have you not listened" "food bad- slow you down make you a fatty") leading into
  • the art sped up (Will's ideas) on the projection screen (maybe have "the end" written into the art work)

So far that is what i remember discussing, please make alterations etc if wrong.

I had an Additional idea to end the peice of us slowing down into a tablu (spl??) of somesort of gross over weight yucky thing of us eating pasta and cake and yummy foods that would stop us "progessing with the futuist ideas of movement" (i dunno why i like saying that but i do lol)

setting

we also lighty touched on how to set this all up, with maybe a dust sheet to protect the floors, and easier cleaning up. also having edible art scultures around the room, and displays of futurist foods with the recipes (i have written a few down).

an additional idea is that maybe we could make our own cookbook, with recipes of the past, and new recipes that we could make up oursleves to give it that cintempory feel. and that mixed tastes etc (can't remeber futurist word for it but luxy has it written down... duluce... i think) with a dos and don't guide of foods to avoid etc, don't eat this it will make you fatter! but do it this as it can give you speed1 lololol

I know i have rambled abit, but hope it helps everyone with todays meeting.

Sorry about the spelling mistakes!!!!

Rehearsal of Mon 17th / Next ToDoList

Evening Acolytes!

Thanks to everyone who could make it, we missed you Sam! We hope everything is OK...
Our next rehearsal shall be THIS Friday during normal lecture hours. If we decide different, comment on this post.

In this Rehearsal we discussed:
  • Focusing on our Central themes; "fatty foods", "obesity/famine", "the digestive system--as a structure".
  • Individual roles.

  • Sound poetry + dramatized movements;

    (in this order)
  1. "ordering food" -- using a prerecorded sound poetry track (while we perform static poses)
  2. "consuming food" -- performing vocal sound effects of eating food (however disgusting)
  3. "digesting food" -- performing elaborate movements to demonstrate the process that food takes when being consumed (using 1 person to stand center stage, performing actions as the rest 'move' around the audience...)
  • Brainstorming our ideas;
  1. Costumes; 'Chef hats and aprons' -- 'aprons with food images on' -- 'fat suits'...
  2. Technical preparations; 'implementing visuals' -- 'obesity/famine, stomach, digestive photos' -- 'video footage of digestive tract' -- 'implementing music'...
  3. Artistic preparations; 'Food sculpting' -- 'prerecorded, sped-up, footage of us making a canvas painting of futurist art using food (mayo, ketchup, etc.)' ..
There's probably lots more that I forgot.
ToDoList for Next Rehearsal (if this applies)
  1. Come up with methods of a scene to stage using our themes and ideas.
  2. Find and bring-in TAKE-AWAY Menu's and note some good terms/food words for sound poetry.
  3. Think of ways to implement music into our performance.
Hope everyone gets on ok!
